Sabine's Favorite Song
Whooo umm yeah...
Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate
To break down the garden gate
There's not much time left today
[Chorus:]
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights
Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood
I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors
[Chorus]
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah
[Chorus]
There was a distance between you and I (between you and I)
A misunderstanding once
But now we look it in the eye
Ooooo...Yeah!
There ain't no load that I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors
[Chorus: (x3)]
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah
Dear Sabine,

Face of Christ
Dear Sage, a few years back, a Mel Gibson film earned a lot of Kudos and endorsements from critiques and religious leaders alike. Everyone still remembers "The Passion of the Christ"
They say that it realistically depicted the last few hours of the Lord here on Earth before his sacrifice on the cross. Everybody lined up to watch it. Maybe because everyone thought they'd see Christ himself in that movie and how he actually suffered for us.
I refused to watch it. I still do. Because the way I see it, the film only indulges the masochistic vision of Mel Gibson. Needless to say, that is not exactly Gospel truth (But I did watch the other Gibson visceral film, "Apocalypto" because it is devoid of the veneer of hypocrisy palpable in "The Passion")
I'm sure Christ did not look like James Caviezel (did I spell it right?)
I'm sure the last few hours of Christ depicted there were not the most painful moments he has ever experienced.
Why?
There's a song I learned in school that says:
"Whatsoever ye do to the least of my brothers,
that,
you do unto me."
It's a biblical verse. You can google it up. But I hope you'd open the Bible instead to verify it.
So, if you want to see the face of Christ, look at the person beside you. Any amount of pain he suffers from another human being, Christ suffers it too.
These past few days, I never stopped talking to you about the world being full of wicked people who want to hurt others, including kids. IN the news lately is the story of a girl who was kidnapped, molested, then murdered. Her small body was found stuffed inside a suitcase floating in a river together with the stench and all the dregs of society.
She was just Nine years old.
We didn't know her personally but she was a schoolmate of your friend and playmate, Peaches.
She was abducted in front of a branch of KUMON. We pass by it everyday.
Hers is the face of Christ. When she suffered, Christ suffered too. I don't even want to think how she suffered as much as I hate to watch the Mel Gibson gorefest.
May the Lord keep you all safe from harm.
May the Lord grant her peace.
"...He said, "She has a lovely face;
God in his mercy lend her grace,
The Lady of Shallot." --Lord Tennyson

August Twenty One
"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical may be madness. To surrender dreams, this may be madness. To seek treasures where there is only trash...Too much sanity may be madness, and maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be."-- Miguel Cervantes de Saavedra

Ayheen's Birthday (August 18)
WE FIT TOGETHER
"I've been waiting for the stars to come out
Dinner it was fine,
but I can't lie 'cause I've been waiting for ya
to come back to mine
I've been, thinking of you 2
4/7, every 365
Now the girl from Impanema
she's here right by my side
I got you now and I just wanna
show you how to play
Goosebumps on your body
guide the way
CHORUS:
I wanna go all night
Ain't no stoppin' 'till the breakin' of the dawn
I wanna go inside every corner
Girl you really turn me on
I wanna go
Knock knock
Our bodies to the beat
And when the morning comes
we're letting the sun shine
We'll stay in bed
You can't separate us
We fit together
I can feel you comin' closer
Dancin' in the dark (dancin' in the dark)
I touch your lips and kiss your shoulders
Send a letter to your heart
I can't explain to which extreme I'm feelin' you (feelin' you)
How many triple x dreams that's be
en starring you
I got you now and I just wanna
show you how to play
Goosebumps on your body
guide the way
CHORUS
I wanna go all night
ain't no stoppin' 'till the breakin' of the dawn (breakin' of the dawn)
I wanna go inside every corner
Girl you really turn me on (I wann
a go I wanna go)
I wanna go knock knock
our bodies to the beat
And when the morning comes (when the morning comes)
We're letting the sun shine
We'll stay in bed (oh baby)
You can't separate us
We fit together
I won't get nothing done of what I oughtta do,
it doesn't really matter to me
I-I-I-I am here with you
I can't explain to what degree I'm feelin' you
How many triple x dreams I've had starring you
But I got you now and i just wanna show you how to play (show you how to play)
Goosebumps on your body
Guide the way
I wanna go all night,
ain't no stoppin' 'till the breakin' of the dawn (breakin' of the dawn)
I wanna go inside every corner (every corner baby)
girl you really turn me on
I wanna go knock knock
our bodies to the beat (knock knock to the beat)
and when the morning comes
we're letting the sun shine
stay in bed,
you cant separate us
we fit together
I wanna go all night
ain't no stoppin' 'till the breakin' of the dawn (there ain't no stopping till the breakin' of the dawn)
I wanna go inside every corner (every corner every corner baby)
girl you really turn me on
I wanna go knock knock

Dear Sage, the title is the fancy latin phrase imploring the Lord of Creation for rain to stave off the impending water crisis here in the Philippines. A few days ago the situation was becoming desperate; the water levels in the dams were reaching critical thresholds and there was talk of power outtages of biblical proportions (feel free to replace the word "biblical" with "Cory Era") A Filipino Cardinal asked the citizens of the "empire" to pray for rain.
That was last August 3.
Today it's been raining buckets since last night. We were on our way to school when your Mom called me up to tell me that I forgot to bring a paper she wanted faxed ASAP. That was the only excuse I needed to take you back home. The classes were not yet officially suspended when I turned you in (some bureaucrat finally sucked in enough balls to suspend it just now)Well, it's about time. Some streets of Manila are flooded, there's news about a concrete wall that was felled down by heavy downpour somewhere in one of the private subdivisions in the outskirts of the city,
Anyway,
YOU WERE PRACTICALLY KICKING AND SCREAMING AND CRYING WHEN I TOLD YOU THAT YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SCHOOL TODAY.
(hey, click here if you wanna know how much she likes school. Read this similar post I wrote a year ago)
Speaking of latin, Tito Andy Wong sent me an email about the Tridentine Mass. I told him I have reservations about it (Frankly, I'd rather learn French than Latin... Because French chicks are way hotter than those in that Latin speaking city state called Vatican)
But the Lord of Natural Science argued for Tito Andy: When the nation prayed in latin for Rain, Divine Providence listened very hard.
So Tito, regarding our "discussion" about the Tridentine mass of bishop lefebvre, all I can say is...
Touche!
"...Pagmasdan ang ulan,
Unti-unting tumitila
Ikaw ri'y magpapaalam na,
Maari bang minsan pa,
mahagkan ka't maiduyan pa
Sakbibi ka't ulan lamang ang saksi"
