disney on ice

Dear Kids, We watched Disney On Ice at the Luneta Colosseum on January 25, 2008 or on the eve of Sadie's 2nd Birthday...

There were 7 of us including your Dad. Tatlong anakis, Byenan, Isang Asawa.
(Koryn! Natiis mo kaming hindi bigyan ng free tickets?)

The picture below was part of that show (101 dalmatians on ice skates)

After the show we had Merienda at Taco Bell. That's you and me, Sabine. The one waiting at the counter in front of us was the Grand Daddy of Rock in these Islands, Jose "Pepe" Smith. I wanted to introduce you to him... but I changed my mind.

I accidentally included this video. Sage is singing her composition "Daddy has a big tummy."

Below you can hear Sabine's rendition of the Cuppycake song to Sadie. I think it was recorded a few days before Sadie's birthday. Note the chick standing on the right side of the screen. Same one I also see in the sack every night. hehe! (eat your heart out, Trixie baby.)

This the most expensive popcorn ever. it's worth 100 bucks as warned by Koryn.

Ate Sage and Ate Sabine were singing Happy Birthday to Sadie

On Sadie's Birthday (January 26) We went to Philcite to fly a kite. when we got there, our plans were rudely interrupted by the filming of a made for tv movie of these two local personalities.

We were only able to fly the kite together just before sunset.

Then we had an early evening picnic near the Coconut Palace. Sadie's shown below contemplating the demise of the once full bottle of coke ala Hamlet holding the remains of his old friend (Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio.)
We enjoyed the sites and the popsicles

Before we finally left ...

Syelebrating Edsa Dos (hic!)

Dear Sage, January 18, 2001 was the second wedding anniversary of your Mom and Dad. We went to EDSA that day because we wanted to show our support to the civilians praying for a peaceful change. The heavens answered our prayers...

Oh Boy! We got more than what we bargained for, eh? (mental note: be careful of what you wish for...)

Anyway, not the least of my grievances against the Powers-that-be back then was their blatant attempt at sabotaging the media, notably, the crippling boycott of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Only recently have I learned that Erap was not to blame for that Third Reichish tactic. In an interview with PDI, he said that he only casually broached the idea to Armida Siguion Reyna. She and her ilk in the Showbiz started the boycott. It was a feeble attempt at suppressing Free Speech

So why did we go to EDSA that day?. ..Erap, blame Armida.

But even though neither political parties (opposition and incumbent) would like to remember those 4 days in 2001, I myself would like to celebrate it. For one, Sage, your Mom and I had a great date; we got to meet other long lost friends and mentors there; we got to dance in the street too (ofcourse she had to be contented with me and my two left feet)

I remember asking the heavens a favor: Please let Tito Willy support the people in the EDSA rally. The following day, the heavens did answer my prayer. He went on the stage, in uniform, wearing only aviator glasses but no sidearms, together with his other comrades.

We are Proud of You Tito Willy. Everytime I think of Cincinnatus, It's your picture that I see (maybe not in a toga. But you get the picture, right?)

Wherever you are, Fair Winds, Sir!

So, were we naive? Were we like a pair of drunken kids who did not know what we were doing? did we make the wrong choice 7 years ago? the answer is "HELL NO!"

Edsa Dos brought out the worst in some people. But it also brought out the best in Most of Us.

NOTE: those two kids in the picture are Uri and Andrei (your Comia Cousins) No Liver cell was damaged in the shooting of that photo. The drinking session was simulated-- But not the cuteness of those two, kid actors.

When Best Wishes Come True... and Through

The sand art is by Ilana Yahav of Sandfantasy.com

"You're my peace of mind in this crazy world.

You're everything I've tried to find, your love is a pearl.
You're my Mona Lisa, you're my rainbow skies,

and my only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

The world will turn, and the seasons will change,
and all the lesson we will learn will be beautiful and strange.
We'll have our fill of tears, our share of sighs.

My only prayer is that you realize
you'll always be beautiful in my eyes.

You will always be beautiful in my eyes.
And the passing years will show
that you will always grow ever more beautiful in my eyes.

When there are lines upon my face from a lifetime of smiles,
when the time comes to embrace for one long last while,
we can laugh about how time really flies.
We won't say goodbye 'cause true love never dies.

You'll always be beautiful in my eyes.
You will always be beautiful in my eyes.
And the passing years will show
that you will always grow ever more beautiful in my eyes.

The passing years will show that you will always grow
ever more beautiful in my eyes."

Bloody but Unbowed...

"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of Circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of Chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."-- W. E. Henley

Dear Kids, I really believed, for several years, that Colin Powell had a shot at the white house. He made a fatal mistake when he ignored his conscience and sided with the neocons (although he wasn't one himself)

Now comes this kid, Barak. First time I heard him speak at the democratic convention... well, let's just say the speech could have been written by Kennedy himself (Jack, not that old goat, Teddy)

will he win? I think that' the wrong question.

The question should be:

Is the America we have right now,
the America of Martin Luther King, Jr.
or the America of Rush Limbaugh?

Blacks. They are fascinating. Someday, I hope you'll read their history, their struggle, their triumph and will enjoy doing so as much as I did.

So, are the SOULMEN ready for a Brother/Commander-in-chief? I don't know. I watch the primaries with detachment since I'm not a citizen and I'm not Black (although I have rhythm and SOUL)

But deep inside, for the sake of their history, I know I'm rooting for Obama.

sabi nga nila:

"...how can a man die better
than by facing fearful odds,
for the ashes of his fathers,
and the temples of his gods?"

In the arms of an Angel

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There's always some reason to feel “not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference, escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of an Angel, far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
